Depending on the severity and location, nerve or spinal cord compression can cause pain, weakness, numbness, loss of balance and coordination, and difficulty standing or walking. The goal of treating these problems is to relieve the pressure on the nerves, without causing instability in the spine. Dr. Babat can address these problems with a range of options, including injections, minimally invasive surgery, or open surgery.
Spinal deformity may be the result of the growth process or of degeneration (wear and tear), as well as due to previous failed surgery. Dr. Babat has worked on the development of many instruments and implants widely used in spine surgery.
